“BASIC RUNNING FOR BEGINNERS”, starts Tuesday night, April 4, 2017, and meets weekly through Tuesday, May 23rd, 2017 at ATI Physical Therapy’s Running Institute at 5222 N. Royal Dr. in Traverse City.
The 8 week class, guiding beginners to use running for fun and fitness, features a variety of health and fitness-related topics, covers a wide range of subjects related to running and many aspects of leading a physically active lifestyle year-round.
The focus of the class is not on competitive running, but on getting a start in running for fun, health and fitness. Participants who take the class will be prepared, if they choose, to participate in area summer 5K races. The class is appropriate for persons of all ages and abilities.
The class is created and instructed by Lisa Taylor, a life-long runner and award winning running coach in Traverse City. Nearly 400 area people have taken Taylor’s beginning running classes since she first began offering the beginner format through Munson Medical Center and Running Fit in the 90’s.
“Over the years of doing this beginner running class, I have seen some truly remarkable people who have learned to include running as a part of dramatic, health-focused lifestyle change,” said Taylor.
The class meets on Tuesday nights from 6:30-7:30 p.m. inside the ATI Physical Therapy Running Institute at 5222 N. Royal Dr. in Traverse City. Cost of the class is $85 each and features a presentation format, with participants completing their running at home at their best pace. Class size is limited to 30 people, first come first served.
