8th Annual TC Trimdown
8th Annual TC Trimdown

Join us for the 8th Annual TC Trimdown (virtually) starting January 4th, 2022 at 9am through January 5th, 2022 at 8pm! The cost to enter is only $5 per person. We will be awarding $1,800 in gift certificates to the winning teams and donating a portion of all proceeds to the Northwest MI Food Coalition and the NMC Student Food Pantry.

What is TC Trimdown?

TC Trimdown is a community challenge to commit to a healthier lifestyle, put on by the Traverse City Record-Eagle. The challenge starts with our Official Weigh-In event (virtually) from January 4th, 2022 at 9am until January 5th, 2022 at 8pm, at which teams of 2 or 4 start their health journey by entering their team's starting total weights!

Throughout the challenge your team captain will log-in to every Friday by 12pm and report your team's total weekly weight. We will also hold sporadic challenges via our Facebook, provide our favorite answer to that week's question and you will win prizes for your whole team!

We will hold the Official Weigh-Out event (virtually) on March 22nd starting at 9am through March 23rd at 8pm. Participants will enter their team's final weights for the challenge and we will hold our Virtual Winner Ceremony on Facebook Live on March 24th, so make sure to tune in to find out who wins! Winning teams are based on total percentage of body weight loss.

1st place male, female and co-ed teams of 4 win $100 gift certificates for each team member!
1st place male, female and co-ed teams of 2 win $100 gift certificates for each team member!

How do I participate?

If you would like to participate, simply click on what team category you would like to sign up for and enter your entire team's information. The cost to participate is $5 per person, with a portion of that amount going back to the NW MI Food Coalition and the NMC Student Food Pantry. The NW MI Food Coalition provides for 36 pantries, 8 baby pantries and 26 community meal sites in our region.

In order to keep our participants, staff and vendors as safe and healthy as possible, we will be requiring for all participants to pre-register for this event & the Official Weigh-In and Weigh-Out will be held virtually. Team captains will receive an email with a link to the Weights platform, enter the email address and password you created/used to register on this site, then click on your team member's name, enter their TOTAL starting weight in the top row, select save on the bottom right-hand corner, and then continue with the same process for each team member, until all weights have been entered.

We ask that all participants enter their starting, weekly and final weights for their teams as accurately and truthfully as possible for the fairness and enjoyment of all participants in this challenge. We understand that holding this event virtually could allow for people to enter inaccurate weights, whether consciously or unconsciously, however in light of COVID-19 local and state health department and governmental data on current transmission levels, as well as the emerging Delta variant, this was deemed necessary for our 2022 TC Trimdown. We want to provide our community with the opportunity to commit to a healthier lifestyle, boost their immune systems, increase their mental well-being/mood, etc. in as safe of a manner as possible.

5. TO ENTER. This contest will run between [9AM. EST.] on [Tuesday, January 4th, 2022](the “Start Date”) until [8PM. EST.] on [Wednesday, March 23rd, 2022](the “Completion Date”). The contest will include: an initial weigh in at the Weigh-In Center (defined below); 10 weekly weigh ins; and one (1) final weigh in at the Weigh In Center upon conclusion of the 11 week period and each contestant will provide a completed entry form for the team, as well as a participant waiver for each individual participant, at [](the “Weigh In Center”). At the Weigh In Center, each participant will be weighed and his/her weight will be recorded by CNHI. The clothing for the Weigh In should be appropriate athletic attire, as determined in CNHI’s sole discretion, and participants will be asked to remove shoes, overcoats, jackets and contents from pockets for the actual weigh in. Participants should not layer clothing or do anything that will increase or distort their individual weight for the initial weigh in.

The entry form and participant waiver can be found online at or may be picked up at 120 W. Front St. Traverse City, MI 49684 prior to the Start Date. In connection with the entry, participants will be required to provide their name, postal address, gender, birth date, email address, and team name.

Submissions received after this date and time will not be valid. Each team will be provided with a team webpage that the team members may access throughout the contest.

Each Friday during the contest period, each team member must do an individual weigh in, such weigh in may be completed at any location of the participant’s choosing. The clothing at the weekly weigh in should be substantially equivalent clothing as they wore for the weigh in on the Start Date. After all members of the team have done their individual weigh ins, on or before Friday at 12:00pm EST of each week (“Weekly Weigh In Time”), a member of the team must log onto and access his/her team webpage in order to enter the weekly weight of all team members. If a team fails to provide its weekly weigh in amounts by the Weekly Weigh In Time, for any reason, the team will be disqualified from the contest. Only CNHI will be able to see the team weights, no teams will be able to see other participating team’s weight or percentage losses.

On the Completion Date, all participants must appear in person at the Weigh In Center for the final weigh in of the contest (or weigh out). Final weigh in will occur between 9AM EST on Tuesday, March 22nd, 2022 until 8PM EST on the Completion Date. At the Weigh In Center, each participant will be weighed and his/her weight will be recorded by CNHI.  Participants must wear substantially equivalent clothing for their official weigh out as they wore for the weigh in on the Start Date.

The calculation for all prizes shall be determined by taking the teams beginning weight minus the ending weight from specified dates (as set forth below in more detail), which provides the total number of pounds lost in a given period of time. The total number of pounds lost will be divided by the beginning weight, which sum will be multiplied by 100 which equals the percentage of weight loss for such period of time.
