Swim for Grand Traverse Bay

Celebrate clean, healthy water in Grand Traverse Bay with a 2-mile point-to-point open water swim from Greilickville Harbor Park to Volleyball Beach in Traverse City on Saturday, August 12, 2017, to benefit The Watershed Center Grand Traverse Bay, a non-profit that works to protect the bay and its 1,000-square-mile watershed.

Whether you’re a serious swimmer looking for a timed event, a triathlete wanting to practice in open water, a recreational swimmer setting a personal goal for your swimming or someone who is passionate about water quality and making a difference locally, the Swim for Grand Traverse Bay is an exciting, challenging and fun celebration of clean and healthy water in our region.

Swim for GT Bay is a Waterkeeper Alliance SPLASH event to benefit The Watershed Center Grand Traverse Bay, presented nationally by Toyota.

(Swimmers may use fins or flotation but will not be eligible for timing prizes.)

Fundraising Requirement (via Crowdrise.com or offline). DO NOT REGISTER FOR THIS EVENT IF YOU CANNOT MEET THE FUNDRAISING COMMITMENT.

Support Kayak Registration Fee
$20
There is no fundraising requirement for kayakers who serve solely as support for an individual swimmer. Swimmers are highly encouraged to have a support kayaker. Swimmers under the age of 18 are required to have a support kayaker.

Teams
Swimmers may form teams of up to 6 and are responsible collectively for the fundraising minimum of $150 fundraising per individual. For example, if your team has 6 swimmers, the team must raise $900 to qualify for the Swim.

Award ceremony and breakfast immediately following at Volleyball Beach. Prizes will be awarded for top finishers and fundraising.

Safety Squad paddlers help monitor the field of swimmers and individual support kayakers, assist with swimmer counts along the course and create additional visibility on the course. No cost. Safety Squad members must be trained in water rescues and CPR in order to participate.
