What is the Duluze Weight Loss Challenge?

Duluze is a 13-week community challenge to commit to a healthier lifestyle, put on by the Duluth News Tribune. The challenge starts with our Official Weigh-In event on January 16, 2020, at which teams of 2 or 4 come to be weighed in, chat with local health experts about strategy during the challenge, and the first 200 pre-registrants recieve goody bags!

Throughout the challenge, team captains will enter their teams weekly weight online by Friday by 12pm. Weekly prizes will be awarded via our Facebook.

We will hold the Official Weigh-Out event on April 16th from 4-7pm at the Clyde Iron Works. Participants will come to be weighed-out, chat with local sponsors, have your "after" photos taken, and win prizes! We will hold our Winner Ceremony at 7:30pm so stick around to find out who wins! Winning teams are based on total percentage of body weight loss for the team. The top male, female and co-ed teams of 4 will win $1,300 per team! The top male, female and co-ed teams of 2 will win $650 per team!

What happens during the Challenge?

Over 13 weeks, teams entered in the challenge will commit to a healthier lifestyle that helps them to lose weight. Teams will work together to support and encourage their teammates to do the best that they can do to fulfill their healthly goals. Throughout the challenge teams will weigh themselves on their home scales and team captains will login to the contest online weight tracker and enter their team's weights each week before Friday at 3pm.

Any team that does not have their weight entered on a given week will be eliminated from prize contention. The Duluze Challenge administration team will keep track of all team weights as they are entered and track each team's progress, but the leaderboard will not be shared with competing teams.

How do I participate?

To pre-register, simply click on what team category you would like to sign up for and enter your entire team's information. The cost to participate is $50 for a 2-person team and $100 for a 4 person team.

Registration is also available at the event Weigh-in at the same price.

Pre-Registering will get you through the lines more quickly and the first 200 pre-registered contestants receive a free goody bag at the event!
